We rely on the membership to provide USHPA’s Calendar photography every year! While the wind is cold and too strong to fly, please encourage your fellow USHPA members to submit photos for the 2011 Calendars and win some prizes!

Safety Notice from Chris Santacroce:
This is a quick safety note regarding some harnesses that we delivered (approx. 10) this season. It seems that the "forget me not" ... "T shaped" buckle (the one that connects the two sides of the waist strap) was not machined to the proper tolerances on a few harnesses. In a few, isolated cases, the buckle has opened inadvertently leaving only one side of the waist strap connected. This problem presented itself when the buckles were exposed to some ice, snow or sand.

Traveling pilot Pete Thompson stayed the summer in Glenwood to fly tandems for Pine and open up some new routes while making a run at the state xc record.
The bar was raised early in the season in May when Gabor Ferenczi and POM transplant, Brian Peterson, both made flights from Aspen to Crested Butte, joining a short list of pilots. Read More...

There were plenty of great glass off sessions to be had this summer. One of the more memorable evenings occurred on Friday, August 21, when Ruthies witnessed 14 happy paragliders in the air. Tandem pilots were also rumored to be enjoying flying their solo gliders.

Congratulations to local tandem Cherie Silvera for winning the second round of the US Paragliding Nationals in Inspo, Utah.
Her impressive results over the seven days of flying also earned her 2nd place overall for the 2009 Womens US National Championships, despite not having competed in the first round in Dunlap, California. Read More...
